Michael Ellison

Position : Management

Having retired from playing as our club captain at the end of 2016-17 season, with more than 200 Runcorn appearances under his belt, Michael was appointed as Linnets manager in July 2016.

This is his first management position and a role he has taken to with typical vigour and enthusiam while carrying out major rebuilding.

As a player, he joined Winsford United in September 2010 and later moved to Runcorn Linnets in 2011, anchoring the midfield to great effect and chipping in with the the odd goal. (Well, two to be precise!)

His inaugural effort at Abbey Hey prompted scenes of wild celebration on the terraces and a new catchphrase "I was there when Ello scored".

Throughout his time as a player at The Millbank Linnets Stadium, Michael proved a great example to younger members of the squad and was also instrumental in helping the club through league and cup successes. He now continues to be an inspiration in the dressing room and on the touchline.

The popular figure was awarded the Players' Player and Supporters Club Player Of The Year awards in 2012-2013 season.

Runcorn Linnets would like to thank Joan & Dave Bettley who has kindly sponsored Michael Ellison.
