Welcome to the official website of Runcorn Linnets FC.

We are members of the Northern Premier League and were placed in Division One North/West for 2019-20 after the league's Step 4 boundaries were changed. We gained promotion to the League for 2018-19 as Premier Division champions of the Hallmark Security League (North West Counties Football League) on our 12th Birthday (28th April 2018) by securing the minimum of a second place finish in the Hallmark Security League's top flight. We went on to finish four points clear.

We are a registered society under the Co-operative and Community Benefit Societies Act 2014 and were formed in the 2006 off-season by the fans of the now defunct Runcorn FC (which was playing under the name "Runcorn FC Halton" at the time). Although when we formed we were technically a "new" club, the Linnets were given special dispensation by the FA to be treated as a reformed version of Runcorn FC - the special dispensation was necessary as the old club had simply become dormant, choosing not to field a team, as opposed to ceasing to exist as a legal entity. We were awarded FA Charter Standard in October 2011.

Suspension of non-elite football is confirmed as four-week lockdown kicks in

Football at non-elite level has been suspended for four weeks, from Thursday, November 5th after MPs voted in favour of a second national Covid-19 lockdown in England.

Ahead of the House of Commons vote on Wednesday, November 4th, the Football Association had issued a statement outlining the impact the new restrictions would have on the game outside the top divisions.

The following activities are, therefore, suspended until the end of lockdown on Wednesday, December 2nd.

All fixtures and training for Steps 3-6 of the National League System (NLS);
All fixtures and training for Tiers 3-7 of the Women's Football Pyramid (WFP);
All fixtures and training for the Regional NLS Feeder Leagues;
All fixtures and training for The Barclays FA WSL Academy League;
All fixtures and training for FA Girls Regional Talent Clubs;
All fixtures and training for indoor and outdoor youth and adult grassroots football.

The statement added: "The FA's aim is to ensure that the 2020/21 season is completed at these levels and will liaise with the relevant leagues in the NLS and WFP and the County Football Associations (CFAs) to provide support and establish appropriate options to do so if required."

Runcorn Linnets thank all our management, coaches and players for their considerable efforts so far this season along with our members, fans and sponsors for their continued support.

We hope all connected with the club stay safe and well and we look forward to welcoming everyone back to The Millbank when football resumes.

Linnets set for flying visit to Altrincham in County Cup

Runcorn Linnets will visit Altrincham in the Cheshire Senior Cup second round after the Robins' 3-0 victory at Barnton in round one. The tie is scheduled for January.

Staying Safe on Match-day

As part of our strategy to keep people as safe as possible during the COVID-19 pandemic, we are introducing a few changes on match-day at the Millbank Linnets Stadium:

  • You will be required to wear a face covering in and around the stadium unless you are exempt from doing so

  • You will be required to "check-in" using the NHS Test and Trace app, or provide contact details via paper

  • You will be required to stand/sit in one of the designated spaces, and we ask that you do not move around the Ground unnecessarily

  • You will be required to observe social distancing, and good hand hygiene at all times

  • Every ticket will include instructions with regards to the Turnstile to use, and your arrival time, in order to avoid long queues

If you feel you are unable to comply with any of these measures, then we suggest that you do not visit the Millbank Linnets Stadium.

NHS COVID-19 App at the Millbank Linnets Stadium

NHS QR posters are displayed to offer a quick, simple and secure way for supporters and visitors to register that they've been to the ground.

This will help NHS Test and Trace to identify and notify people who may have been exposed to the virus.

Players, spectators, coaches, match officials, staff / volunteers and all other visitors to the site aged 16 and above must provide their details.

The app is available on Android and iOS - details are available here.

We will also be operating a backup manual paper system, for those who do not have an appropriate smartphone to scan the code.

The NHS COVID-19 app has a feature that allows users to quickly and easily 'check in' to a venue by scanning the code. The information stays on the user's phone. We do not have to ask people who choose to 'check in' using the official NHS QR code to provide their contact details. If there is an outbreak associated with a venue, a message will be sent to the relevant app users with the necessary public health advice.

This will help to avoid the reintroduction of further lockdown measures.

In addition to maintaining and sharing records where requested and displaying an official NHS QR poster, everyone must also continue to follow other Government guidance to minimise the transmission of COVID-19. This includes maintaining a safe working environment and following social distancing guidelines.
