Welcome to the official website of Runcorn Linnets FC.

We are members of the Bet Victor Northern Premier League and were placed in Division One North/West for 2019-20 after the league's Step 4 boundaries were changed. We gained promotion to the League for 2018-19 as Premier Division champions of the Hallmark Security League (North West Counties Football League) on our 12th Birthday (28th April 2018) by securing the minimum of a second place finish in the Hallmark Security League's top flight. We went on to finish four points clear.

We are a registered society under the Co-operative and Community Benefit Societies Act 2014 and were formed in the 2006 off-season by the fans of the now defunct Runcorn FC (which was playing under the name "Runcorn FC Halton" at the time). Although when we formed we were technically a "new" club, the Linnets were given special dispensation by the FA to be treated as a reformed version of Runcorn FC - the special dispensation was necessary as the old club had simply become dormant, choosing not to field a team, as opposed to ceasing to exist as a legal entity. We were awarded FA Charter Standard in October 2011.

Win a Linnets replica shirt in our 1895 Sports competition

One of our fans will win a 2019-20 Runcorn Linnets playing shirt this pre-sesson, courtesy of new kit and clubwear partner, 1895 Sports.

1895 are offering the replica of our new-style shirt - in our traditional yellow and green colours - as the prize for a special free-to-enter competition.

And you could be the lucky recipient!

To have a chance of winning the shirt, you need to answer the following question.

Q: Which famous sporting trophy was stolen in 1895?

Email your answer to [email protected] - also giving your full name, age, postal address and a contact telephone number, along with your shirt size.

The winner will be drawn by John Welch, of 1895 Sports, during our Kit Launch Day in the clubhouse on Sunday, July 28th from 10am-2pm.

Entry is limited to those aged 18/over but entrants can choose a child's size if they wish. No person can enter more than once.

The shirt will go to the first correct entry drawn and will be ready for the winner to collect in time for the new season. There is no alternative prize.

Join us at our kit launch in the clubhouse on Sunday, July 28th

Supporters will also have chance to see and order other clothing items from our official range of Linnets leisure and JEM Recycling-sponsored training wear.

But this is on a first come, first served basis as stock is limited.

No replica shirts will be available to buy at the launch but any† orders taken should be fulfilled for the first match of the 2019-20 season.

Linnets TV will be filming so there is an opportunity to be interviewed and give your views on the season ahead.

Linnets kick off sesson at home to Pontefract Collieries

Here they are!

Our 2019-20 fixtures are now out - and for the first time in the BetVictor Northern Premier League, we will open with a home match.

Pontefract Collieries, one of the teams coming into the new Division One North/West from the former East Division, will be our visitors on Saturday, August 17th.

The Yorkshire team are sure to present a formidable test, after finishing as runners-up in their maiden Step 4 season.

They went on to lose their play-off final against third-placed Brighouse Town, who likewise missed promotion - in their case due to not scoring enough points over the season.

Pontefract Colls had earned their place in the NPL as 2017-18 Premier Division champions in the Toolstation Northern Counties East League - this being the season in which we won the Hallmark Security League Premier League title.

Our only previous meeting with Pontefract was in August 2015, when we convincingly won an Emirates FA Cup preliminary round tie at The Millbank Linnets Stadium.

Brighouse, who we haven't hitherto met, will also be among early-season guests at the MLS.

Of our first five opponents, home or away, the only side we have previously encountered at this level are Mossley - hosts for our first away match.

However, we quickly renew acquaintances with former NWCL rivals City of Liverpool, who succeeded us as Premier Division champions. The Purps will travel to Murdishaw for a Bank Holiday derby on Monday, August 26th.

The month's fixtures end with the first of our ground-breaking league journeys to the North East - Northern League Division One champions, Dunston awaiting us.

Looking further ahead, we will entertain Prescot Cables on Boxing Day in a match-up of the two highest home crowdpullers in last season's West Division.

The reverse fixture at Volair Park is on Easter Monday while there will be a New Year's Day trip to Bootle for the return game against CoL.

For the second successive season, our penultimate league fixture will be at home to Widnes, while we again round off the regular campaign with an away game - this time at Marine.

In the Emirates FA Cup preliminary round, we will visit Atherton Collieries on Saturday, August 24th.

The Buildbase FA Trophy will see us entertain Marine in the extra preliminary round on Saturday, September 28th. A preliminary round visit to Trafford awaits the winners.
