Position : Midfield
An unsung hero at Runcorn Linnets,
Ronnie returned to the club for a second spell in summer 2018.
He is one of those unassuming characters, who just goes about his work without any fuss but in a highly-efficient and effective manner.
Testimony to the central midfielder is that many of the team's better displays last season came with Ronnie in the side.
A 2018-19 season which saw the player all too briefly link up with brother Connor (before the striker stepped back up to the EVO-STIK League Premier Division with Warrington Town) saw Ronnie largely consolidate his comeback to the game after serious injury.
With a full pre-season behind him, Ronnie goes into the Linnets' second season as a Step 4 club all the stronger.
Primarily a holding player in the middle of the park, Ronnie can also operate in central defence.
The 25-year-old is noted for his commitment and endeavour, having initially joined the Linnets in August 2016 on dual registration with Skelmersdale United.
Ronnie made his first debut off the bench in the Linnets' maiden competitive win under Michael Ellison's management - a 4-1 home victory against Irlam in The Hallmark Security League Premier Division.
The player's first spell in the Yellow & Green saw 23 appearances, including 20 starts, in 2016-17 with two goals. He went on to play for Burscough.
Ronnie has also represented Vikings FC (now Widnes FC) and scored one of the goals in their maiden victory in North West Counties League football.
Runcorn Linnets would like to thank Ellen and Connie Barnett who have kindly sponsored Ronnie McCarthy.
