07 Sep 2018 : Oh brother! Runcorn Linnets sign Connor McCarthy

Michael Ellison has made striker Connor McCarthy the latest addition to the Runcorn Linnets family.

The 23-year-old is the brother of midfielder Ronnie, 24, who rejoined the club this summer for a second spell.

Connor arrives at The Millbank after being a regular for National League North outfit FC United of Manchester last season, scoring nine goals from 42 appearances.

Having begun his senior career at Prescot Cables and Skelmersdale United, Connor was signed by Southport where he played in the top division of the National League.

While at the Sandgrounders, he spent time on loan at AFC Telford United before joining the Shropshire club on a permanent deal in September 2016.

After a being loaned to EVO-STIK League Premier Division side Warrington Town early last year, Connor was allowed to leave by Telford at the end of 2016-17 and moved to FC United in July 2017.

Throughout his career, Connor has been renowned for his work rate and commitment and Linnets boss Ellison said: 'This is a big signing for us.

'I'm obviously delighted to get him in. He had a number of options but chose Runcorn Linnets.'
