10 Oct 2019 : Double delight for Linnets Academy away from home

Runcorn Linnets have got the show on the road in style on debut in the Northern Premier League Football Academy (NPLFA).

The team yesterday secured a second away success in as many attempts with a fine 4-2 win at Belper Town (Yellow) in the Sports Trader Division.

Linnets had stormed into a 3-0 half-time lead with goals from Ross Avies and Harrison Thatcher, whose efforts were supplemented by Aiden Brown.

It was a good way for the team to bounce back from the previous week's 5-2 home defeat by a more-experienced Widnes FC side, which included some second year students.

Our lads had also led at the interval, this time 2-0 with Avies and Brown on target. As further consolation, Harrison Thatcher was named in the NPLFA "Team of the Week".

The derby, the first NPLFA game at The Millbank Linnets Stadium, attracted a Wednesday afternoon crowd of just below 50.

Admission to all NPL home games is free via main entrance to the stadium. The canteen will be open as a rule.

Runcorn Linnets' next two scheduled league games, both at the MLS, are on Wednesday, October 16th against Radcliffe (Black) and Wednesday, October 23rd against Skelmerdale United.

We also have a home draw against Stafford Rangers in the NPLFA Cup on Wednesday, November 6th.

All these games have 1pm kick offs.

Any fixture updates will appear on the Runcorn Linnets NPLFA twitter site @LinnetsNpl
