Abuse of visitors to APEC Taxis Stadium will not be tolerated

Runcorn Linnets are very disappointed to have received complaints from supporters of visiting Chester FC after our Ladies team's cup-tie at APEC Taxis Stadium this afternoon.

This relates to abusive and derogatory remarks and chanting aimed at individual visiting players and their club by a group of Linnets fans behind the goal at the Clubhouse End.

We are embarrassed and dismayed at such misconduct by a small section of fans.

This kind of behaviour is not inkeeping with the values of our club or the warm and friendly welcome we afford to all visitors to our ground.

We also regret that our hard-working volunteers have had to deal with such matters when giving up their time to host the match.

We have a very good relationship with and utmost respect for Chester FC, a fellow fans-owned club whose men's team is led by former members of our management staff.

But we will not tolerate such disrespect being shown to any visiting club, their players and followers.

While apologising to Chester FC, its players and fans for any offence and distress today's incidents may have caused them, we will not hesitate to take the firmest action against the perpetrators of such abuse.
