Runcorn Linnets regret to announce that Josh Christian has resigned from his position on the Trust Board for health reasons.
He steps down as a director with immediate effect, also vacating his role as our community manager.
Josh was in his second spell as a Board member after initially joining in 2017 and has achieved much thanks to his energy and enthusiasm.
Last year, he played a major part in the club being highly commended at the 2024 Halton Business Awards for our work in the community.
Over the years, Josh has established many links with charities and organisations within the borough and headed up key initiatives and appeals as part of our efforts to assist those in need.
Tendering his resignation, Josh said: "Unfortunately, I have come to the decision to step down from the Board. This is due to ongoing medical and mental health issues that unfortunately over the past few weeks have got a lot worse. Unfortunately, I just don't have the time or headspace for anything else at the moment.
"I haven't taken this decision lightly. It's been worrying and causing stress for a number of months and is one I feel I need to take now.
"This isn't me walking away from the club or going off to another club. This is me putting myself and my health first
"I will still back the Board and club 100% and when my health allows, I'll hopefully still be able to volunteer. I love this club and wish the club every success moving forward." 💛💚
Peter Cartledge, chairman of Runcorn Linnets, said: "We are very sorry that Josh has had to relinquish his position on the board. He feels it is the right course of action at this time and the Trust Board respects, understands and is fully behind his decision.
"Nobody who knows Josh can ever question his passion for Runcorn Linnets or his enthusiasm for his community role. He has given it everything but his health must come first.
"After years of looking after other people both on behalf of the club and through his own good nature - be it at the ground on matchdays or out in the wider community - Josh must now concentrate on caring for himself.
"We are sure that this isn't the end of Josh's involvement with the club and once he has fully recuperated and recovered, we look forward to him returning to Runcorn Linnets as a supporter and in whatever capacity he chooses.
"The Board had already been due to carry out its annual review of roles and responsibilities and appointing a new community lead will now form a greater part of those discussions."
