Linnets boss unwraps two early Christmas presents

Antony Kay has ticked off a couple of 'wants' on his Christmas list with new signings at both ends of the field.

Centre back Callum Grogan joins from Pitching In Northern Premier League West neighbours Witton Albion, our next home opponents on New Year's Day.

Meanwhile, striker Przemek Staniszewski has arrived from Cheshire Football League Division One club Daten, where he has been in prolific form this season.

Callum has been a Witton regular this season, appearing 25 times.

He had made his debut at the end of 2023-24, reuniting with his former Radcliffe boss Jon Macken, then Albion's manager, after a long spell out of the game through injury.

The Liverpool-born player's career began at Shrewsbury Town, progressing from their Under 18s to the fringes of the first team with appearances on the bench.

He was loaned to Skelmersdale United in February 2017 before signing for Radcliffe in summer of the same year.

Callum went on to make 132 appearances, scoring 12 goals, in the first of two spells with the Greater Manchester club .

The 6ft 1in defender was an integral part of the Radcliffe team, which secured promotion to the Northern Premier League's top flight in 2019 as West Division runners-up.

A move to Warrington Town saw him make eight appearances in the Covid-curtailed 2020-21 campaign before sustaining a serious knee injury.

Callum later returned to Radcliffe, as a former winner of their Player of the Year and Players’ Player of the Year awards, for the 2021-22 campaign but was restricted to only a couple more appearances.

He played against us for Witton earlier this season in the August Bank Holiday league derby at Wincham, which Albion won 4-0.

Callum didn't feature in October's Cheshire Senior Cup tie, also at U Lock It Stadium, which we won 3-0.

Przemek, or Zeme as he known, originates from Poland but has lived in the UK for 20 years.

He boasts an impressive scoring record, having netted 19 goals in 16 outings for Warrington-based Daten.

Linnets boss Kay describes the new frontman as a "tenacious and hard-working forward who has speed and power to go with it."

Przemek, 28, has also played in the Cheshire League for Greenalls Padgate St Oswalds, another Warrington club, and in the Warrington & District League for Pierpoints United.

We welcome Callum and Przemek to Runcorn Linnets, wishing them both a happy and successful stay.
