Runcorn Linnets have been recognised in the Halton Business Awards.

Shortlisted in the Commitment to the Community category, the club was one of only two nominees across all categories to be highly commended by the judging panel.

Linnets were represented at the awards ceremony by chairman Peter Cartledge, president Alan Jones (accompanied by wife Heather) and community manager Josh Christian, who was joined by partner Sophie Bowater.

Top-performing businesses from across the borough were able to reflect on their achievements at Friday's presentation dinner.

The awards were organised and hosted at DCBL Stadium, Widnes, by Halton Chamber of Commerce and Enterprise.

Civic leaders and dignatories present included Mayor of Halton, Councillor Kevan Wainwright and Halton Borough Ccuncil leader, Councillor Mike Wharton.

The Community category was sponsored by Redrow.

The Chamber of Commerce tweeted: "All finalists have made a significant impact on the Halton community. Congratulations to

@RuncornLinnets on receiving a Highly Commended."

Josh Christian said just to have been shortlisted had been an achievement but to receive a special commendation was a great result for the club.

The Community manager added: "It's a team effort and a testament to how far the club has come on and off the pitch over the last few years, commercially and community wise.

"It's only right as a fans-owned club that we should thank our members and fans for their contributions and pay tribute to all our valued volunteers."

The other commendation went to one of our sponsors, Home Financial in the customer service category.

Many congratulations to Ross Jones and team.

Two other award winners with close connections to Linnets were Anthony's Travel and Halton Haven.
