Runcorn Linnets Under 21s have tonight been crowned as champions of North West Development League's Championship Division B - without kicking a ball!

KIdsgrove Athletic's shock 2-1 home defeat by Warrington Rylands means that Linnets cannot now be caught at the top of the table.

Many congratulations to manager Ste Ellams, his right hand men Daryl Evans and John Harrison and, of course, the players, who have performed so well over the season.

There could yet be another trophy to come for the young guns.

Champions at the first time of asking, after their pre-season renaissance, Linnets U21s can complete a double ahead of their closing league game next Wednesday (May 7th), when Northwich Victoria visit APEC Taxis Stadium.

The team will likewise be at home this Sunday for the Championship Division B Trophy final as Kidsgrove, all but mathematically certain of runners-up spot and a promotion play-off against the second-placed club in Championship Division A, provide the opposition (ko 2pm).

Admission is free and we hope to see as many Linnets fans there is possible.

Linnets U21s can now look forward to Premier Division football next season.
